From September 15 to October 10
Architecture Week Praha

The Mánes Gallery hosts the 13th Architecture Week, an international architecture and urbanism festival, whose theme is “one hundred years of Czechoslovak architecture”. The birth of the new state in 1918 paved the way for a new style relieved from the past that would represent the democratic society. After the initial return of the European avant-garde movement, a modern style flourished in the 30s. Next to big names, the exhibition offers a comparison with certain contemporary projects that show the future image of the cities and regions. Around twenty local studios and other thirty foreign take part in the event. One part focuses on Prague alone with models of individual districts and known buildings like Gočár’s Legiobanka or Plečnik’s Church of the Most Sacred Heart of Our Lord.
