Bonjour, Monsieur Gauguin
The National Gallery in Prague hosts at Kinský Palace the exhibition Bonjour, Monsieur Gauguin, from the title of the homonymous painting, one of the most valuable pieces of the museum. The Breton Departmental Museum of Quimper is the co-organizer of the event, having already hosted the exhibition during summer. Between the nineteenth and the twentieth centuries, Brittany was an important art center attracting many artists of those times through its school of Pont-Aven, the sea and the wild landscapes. The exhibit focuses on the presence of Czech painters in the South of France between 1850 and 1950 and on the influence of this place in their work of art. The display includes paintings of Alfons Mucha, František Kupka, Toyen or Jan Zrzavý, along with the French Gauguin, Paul Sérusier or Emil Bernard and a series of photographs, notes and letters.
