World draws Havel
In 2016, the Czech Union of Cartoonists invited Czech and international artists to present caricatures of Václav Havel. One hundred-thirty caricaturists, including two Italians, who with their drawings paid tribute to the first president of Czechoslovakia, took on the challenge at once. Presented in autumn 2016, the exhibition “World draws Havel” is now revived at Ymca Palace and can be visited until January 8. Enriched with new drawings from Czech Republic and Hungary, it includes over one hundred works, in color and black and white. For the most part, they are positive caricatures but even the most critical portraits reveal the respect for the dramatist and politician who played a fundamental role in the passage of the Czech Nation from totalitarianism to democracy.
