Until March 24, the Kampa Museum will host the exhibition “The Power of Act. Jan Palach and Jan Zajíc in arts in years 1969 – 2009”. This is an extension of the project “The anatomy of a leap into the void. The year 1968 and the visual arts in Czechoslovakia”, held by the Kampa Museum with the West Bohemian Gallery of Pillsen, which focused on a key period in the country’s history, from 1967 and the Prague Spring to the normalization which begun in 1972. The part dedicated to the sacrifice of Jan Palach and Jan Zajíc presents the works with which artists reacted to their death and shows how their memory remained alive in the consciousness of society even if the regime did everything to suppress it. The exhibition includes movie posters of the era and musical and vocal recordings.
