From the 5th to the 8th of September
Santini’s Baroque Festival
The baroque festivities dedicated to the architect Jan Blažej Santini-Aichel will take place in Žďár nad Sázavou, in Vysočina between the 5th and the 8th of September. This year’s edition is connected to two anniversaries: 300 years from the construction of the sanctuary of Saint John of Nepomuk in Zelená Hora – the night of the monasteries will take place here as well on Saturday – and 25 years since its inclusion in the UNESCO patrimony. The program includes a meeting for experts and admirers of Santini’s work, conferences and guided tours, concerts of either baroque or popular music such as the swing singer Jan Smigmator, a solemn service at the sanctuary where the city of Žďár will donate to the church a new cornerstone. The event is organized by the municipality and parish of Žďár nad Sázavou and the cultural association Putování za Santinim.
