Move little hands … Move!
At the Kunsthalle Lipsiusbau in Dresden in Dresden, the exhibition “Move little Hands … Move!” is underway, prepared by the Czech Jiří Fajt, the former director of the National Gallery in Prague, offering the German public a glimpse into the life and work of the surrealist artists and spouses Jan and Eva Švankmajer. The retrospective brings together the works of both artists: human-sized puppets, collages and graphic art, surrealist drawings and fantastic creatures that create a cabinet of curiosities. You can also see 17 of Jan’s films, one of the major Czech exponents of the animated film, who with his stop-motion technique inspired directors such as Tim Burton and Terry Gilliam. His wife Eva collaborated as a designer on many of his films.
