The Masaryk University of Brno is celebrating its first centenary and among other initiatives it has set up the MUNI 100 exhibition together with the Moravian Gallery which hosts the event. Combining the artistic style of the Gallery with the scientific approach of the university, the exhibition traces the history of the Masaryk institute, boasting 2% of the global excellence in scientific research, according to a ranking compiled by the British magazine Times Higher Education. The installation by Jaro Varga, a library with the titles of the graduates’ theses engraved on the books, does not go unnoticed. Among other things, the rectors’ insignia, the foundation act, the honorary degrees of Leoš Janáček and Václav Havel, the writing Muni formed by the photographs of students and academics which is the new university logo.
