The tales of Doggie and Moggie

Born in Hronov in 1887, into a cultured family that gave him important incentives for his artistic and intellectual life, Josef Čapek soon became well-known as a painter and illustrator, but also devoted himself to literature and journalism. Almost 70 years after the author’s death, his book now a must in Czech literature, “The tales of Doggie and Moggie”, comes out for the first time in Italian. Ten stories about an unusual but likeable couple who make us discover a different type of narrative, timeless, indicated as being for children, but also suitable for their parents. The event that inspired the author with the creation of this work in the late ‘20s, was the birth of his daughter Alena to whom the book is dedicated. Stories of “a time”, which using tact and gentle humour, explain to the child and remind the parent just how beautiful and fun even a simple life can be. The book, published by “Poldi Libri”, also shows the original illustrations of the author.
